Description

The RAZ AP600 is a heavy-duty Shower Commode chair featuring the height-adjustable stainless-steel frame. This chair is designed to be as flexible as possible- the flip armrest design allows easy access and accommodates additional hip with. The chair can be used in single-user or multi-user environments and is great for recycling due to its massively robust construction. This chair can be upgraded to have the self-propelling rear wheels if required in future.

As standard the RAZ AP600 chair comes in a 590mm seat width, which with it’s generous width and open-arm design suits the majority. However you can now specify wider seat widths as standard, as follows: 610mm / 680mm / 710mm and 790mm.

Why should you use a shower chair?

Shower chairs are very beneficial if you are disabled and need help getting around and using the bathroom. Especially if you’re not steady on your feet, a slippy floor can be a nightmare. Shower chairs give you something to sit on to keep you safe and supported if you’re washing or using the toilet. Shower chairs also give you a chance to take care of yourself and maintain good hygiene. You can use the toilet, wash and shower with ease.

If independence is a concern, then you might choose a self-propelled shower chair if you are strong enough to push yourself around. Self-propelled shower chairs give you independence and the ability to move around your bathroom with no hassle. They’re also particularly versatile pieces of equipment because shower chairs can be doubled up as commodes. Many models have an aperture that allows for a removable commode pan to be fitted.

Bariatric commodes

There are numerous models of commodes which are explicitly designed for bariatric individuals. The term bariatric refers to severely overweight people to the extent that their day-to-day behaviour is inhibited.

Bariatric commodes are heavy-duty bedside commodes for larger individuals, supporting anywhere from 375 lb to as much as 1500 lb, depending on the model. In comparison, standard bedside commodes will generally support a person’s weight up to 300 – 350 lb, but you should always check, as some folding models will only support a maximum of 250lb. While not designed as a wheelchair, it does have small flip-down wheels, which enable it to be positioned as required before use.
