RAZ AT600 Commode Chair

  • Stainless steel frame
  • Bariatric option
  • Seat depth adjustment
  • 272kg weight limit

Description

The stainless steel frame is constructed to take users up to 270kg, and the exclusive Weight Assist Spring System (WASS) can be configured to counter-balance the user’s weight for near-effortless tilting to 25° by an attendant, eliminating the requirement for problematic battery systems. The RAZ AT600 is also height-adjustable by means of an adjustable chassis, allowing fine-tuning of the seat height between 57-60cm. The injection moulded seat is comfortable and designed to accommodate plus-size/bariatric users. The RAZ AT600 also offers the benefit of pelvic adjustment in the seat to meet any postural changes.

The 590mm (23″) seat width is the standard option, which, with the open side design, offers plenty of space and access for hygiene procedures. For those that require a wider seat, the following widths can be specified – 610mm, 680mm, 710mm, and 790mm. Custom wider frames can be quoted for on request.

The backrest is tension adjustable and can be finely tuned to accommodate changes in body contours i.e. a gluteal shelf. The position of the backrest frame is also adaptable in allowing for 100mm forward-backwards adjustments, which can help to promote an upright sitting posture. The arm-rests are flip-up and adjustable for height, as well as being constructed from the stainless tube which has tremendous weight-bearing capabilities. As with the rest of the RAZ range, the footplates are flip-up, length adjustable, and are mounted on swing-away hangars. The castors are full swivel and locking at each corner. The AT600 comes equipped with an adjustable headrest and cushion, and a commode bowl.

Why should you use a shower chair?

Shower chairs are very beneficial if you are disabled and need help getting around and using the bathroom. Especially if you’re not steady on your feet, a slippy floor can be a nightmare. Shower chairs give you something to sit on to keep you safe and supported if you’re washing or using the toilet. Shower chairs also give you a chance to take care of yourself and maintain good hygiene. You can use the toilet, wash and shower with ease.

If independence is a concern, then you might choose a self-propelled shower chair if you are strong enough to push yourself around. Self-propelled shower chairs give you independence and the ability to move around your bathroom with no hassle. They’re also particularly versatile pieces of equipment because shower chairs can be doubled up as commodes. Many models have an aperture that allows for a removable commode pan to be fitted.

Bariatric commodes

There are numerous models of commodes which are explicitly designed for bariatric individuals. The term bariatric refers to severely overweight people to the extent that their day-to-day behaviour is inhibited. Bariatric commodes are heavy-duty bedside commodes for larger individuals, supporting anywhere from 375 lb to as much as 1500 lb, depending on the model. In comparison, standard bedside commodes will generally support a person’s weight up to 300 – 350 lb, but you should always check, as some folding models will only support a maximum of 250lb. While not designed as a wheelchair, it does have small flip-down wheels, which enable it to be positioned as required before use.
